Day 3 & 4 Kruger National Park

Split between the provinces of Mpumalanga and Limpopo, the 20,000km² Kruger National Park is one of Africa’s most consistently rewarding safari destinations. One measure of its ecological importance is that it is probably the last place on earth to support viable breeding populations of all of Africa’s Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino. And as you explore this magnificent tract of subtropical bush, you'll find it provides sanctuary to a host of other striking creatures, from the stately greater kudu and clown-like wildebeest to outsized ostriches, soaring eagles and colorful rollers.

Day 5 Hoedspruit

The small town of Hoedspruit has an Afrikaans name that translates, rather mysteriously, as Hat Creek. Together with nearby Eastgate Airport, it is the main air and road gateway to the central Kruger National Park and several bordering private reserves.

Panorama Route

Centered on the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve, eastern Mpumalanga's scenic Panorama Route incorporates some of the most memorable viewpoints you can visit anywhere in South Africa. This well-watered escarpment is also scattered with waterfalls and evergreen forests teeming with colorful birds.

Day 6 to 11 Cape Town

Cape Town is the oldest city in South Africa, founded by Dutch seafarers in 1652. It is also the most beautiful thanks to an iconic seafront location below Table Mountain. Studded with intriguing museums, lively markets, cosmopolitan restaurants and individualistic shops, the historic city center is well worth exploring in its own right. It is also a popular base for excursions further afield to the scenic Cape Peninsula, sedate Cape winelands and elsewhere.

Cape Peninsula (Day 7)

Fields of flowering proteas. Comical penguin colonies. Breathtakingly treacherous cliffs and family-friendly beaches. Relaxed seaside cafes and sophisticated wine estates. All this and more can be found on the Cape Peninsula, a destination that genuinely caters to all tastes and interests.

Stellenbosch (Day 11)

Studded with graceful examples of Cape Dutch architecture, South Africa’s second-oldest town Stellenbosch was founded in 1679 and now stands at the heart of the world-famous Cape Winelands.

Franschhoek (Day 11)

You can enjoy delicious French cuisine and world-class wines at Franschhoek, a pretty Cape Winelands town that hosts more than its fair share of iconic restaurants.

Highlights of your visit to the Cape of Good Hope include the clifftop Cape Point Lighthouse and the opportunity to look for marine and fynbos-associated wildlife.
Topped by a lighthouse, Cape Point has a sensational location in the south of Table Mountain National Park. Look out for marine birds and occasional whales from the cliffs.

Take a scenic drive through the memorable setting of Cape Peninsula.

When you stand on rocky Cape Agulhas, you're at the southernmost headland in Africa and the point where the Indian and Atlantic oceans officially meet.
Stop at Boulders Beach to get up close and personal with its famous breeding colony of the endangered African penguin, whose range is restricted to South Africa and Namibia.
